Position Description

The Department of Chemistry at the University of the Pacific, Stockton, California invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level in Biochemistry (https://pacific.peopleadmin.com/). The successful applicants must have a doctoral degree, and, preferably, post-doctoral training. The candidates will contribute to teaching in Biochemistry and in their areas of specialization at the undergraduate and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) levels, as well as in General Chemistry. The candidates are expected to develop a strong research program and pursue external funding. The positions start at the beginning of Fall 2018. Applications will be reviewed starting October 1, 2017; the positions are open until filled. Applicants are to submit a CV, a statement of teaching philosophy, and a research proposal, as well as three independent letters of recommendation. Basic Qualifications

Ph.D. in biochemistry or related discipline. Post-doctoral experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

Standing/sitting in lecture hall while teaching.
Sitting behind writing desk (administrative/scientific work).
Working in research lab with safety equipment (Personal Protective Equipment, fume hood) and hazardous materials. Moving equipment. Occasional heavy lifting.
