Position Summary Information

Primary Purpose

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Technology Customer Experience, the Manager for Marketing and Communications is responsible for the creation, coordination, and implementation of marketing and communication strategies for the Technology Division. Oversees communication initiatives that enhance connectivity and engagement between Pacific Technology and students, staff and faculty. The incumbent will have direct responsibility in ensuring that our services, value, and brand are effectively communicated through the following mediums: dashboards, reports, publications, web content, electronic communication channels, brochures, and social media.

Essential Functions

1. Leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing/communications plan to effectively communicate to the Pacific community.
2. Leads the promotion of the Pacific Technology brand in collaboration with team members and the Office of Communications.
3. Leads in the design, development, and production of marketing materials that include a newsletter, publications, program brochures, blogs, emails, tweets, status updates, photos, web site and videos.
4. Manages the tracking and reporting of metrics and key performance indicators that reflect the strategic values of the institution.
5. Manages and recommends solutions for optimizing communication of news, information and events. Ensures visual and verbal consistency, including logo use and University Identity Standard adherence.
6. Manages the content of the Pacific Technology website to provide clear and relevant performance indicators, reports, and accurate contextual information for all audiences.
7. Monitors and works with team leaders in the creation and growth of communication lines between the Technology Division and the Pacific community.
8. Serve as Editor of the Pacific Technology Newsletter and reformat to an electronic newsletter produced monthly.
9. Supervises student employees and interns assigned to marketing/branding/social media initiatives.
10. Co-cultivates, co-develops, and co-maintains organizational relationships within Pacific Technology.
11. Researches and maintains currency of industry practices to make recommendation as related to marketing, communication, design standards, technology metrics, and conducting customer surveys.
12. Performs other duties as assigned that are consistent with the position.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Three (3) years of experience managing projects, including ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, English or related field preferred.
• Five (5) years experience in a managerial role in publications or related field with demonstrated ability to lead creative teams.

Skills/Knowledge and Expertise:
• Demonstrated competence with evaluation metrics and tools, including performance indicator development.
• Proven ability to develop effective and creative integrated, multichannel marketing communications plans and implement successful tactics, including social media and professional networking tools.
• Technical proficiency with all the major social media platforms and an understanding of their role in an overall marketing strategy.
• Ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines with a quality, error-free product or result. Efficiently expresses ideas and concepts concisely to a broad range of audiences who possess varying degrees of conceptual understanding.
• Capable of supervising multiple staff members, demonstrated experience in successfully delegating duties, conflict management and performance development and evaluation.
• Works well as a team member and team leader and ability to assume role which is most appropriate.
• Polished writing and speaking ability and strong interpersonal skills.
• Analytical and report writing skills.
• Seeks out opportunities for professional growth.
• Able to develop strong working relationships with other University and School departments. Capable of articulating benefits and risks of proposals relevant to current business and revenue models.
• Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative but not definitive of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Duties require constant sitting and repetitive motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Frequent walking, standing and simple grasping. Occasional climbing stairs, walking across campus, stooping and reaching. Constant communication using both spoken and written means. May be required to lift/carry up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment as well as mobile environment. Requires evening and weekend availability with ability to travel and attend overnight functions/conferences. Must possess valid driver’s license and be insurable under the University’s policy.
