Position Description

The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of the Pacific is seeking applicants for a full-time, 11-month tenure track faculty position.
The primary responsibilities for this position are specific to directing and overseeing the clinical education curriculum and include: advising and placing students in the clinic, monitoring and supporting student success, promoting best practices in clinical education, and data collection/analysis for regulatory and accreditation purposes. Excellence in classroom teaching (in area of clinical expertise) is an expectation.

The University of the Pacific in Northern California has offered concise programs culminating in an accredited degree in physical therapy for 30 years, and began offering the 26-month DPT degree in 2003.
University of the Pacific is an independent, comprehensive academic institution in the Central Valley in Stockton, California, with the Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco and the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. Stockton is about 1.5 hours from both San Francisco and the Sierra Nevada mountains. University of the Pacific in Stockton has approximately 5,000 students enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences and Schools of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, Education, Engineering, Business, Music, and International Studies. The Department of Physical Therapy is a part of the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and currently enrolls 36 students annually. The Department enjoys state-of-the-art classrooms and dedicated clinic and research space and equipment.

Basic Qualifications

In addition to fulfilling and excelling in assigned teaching responsibilities, the successful faculty member must be productive scholars with a commitment to university service.

Minimum qualifications
• Earned clinical doctorate
• Licensure or eligibility for PT licensure in California at time of hire
• 3 years of full time clinical experience with diverse clientele
• Experience as a clinical instructor or center coordinator of clinical education

Additional Qualifications

Preferred qualifications
• Academic doctoral degree – PhD, EdD, DHS, DSc, etc.
• 3 years experience in full time teaching and research position in a CAPTE-accredited PT program
• Experience preparing students to work in a clinical environment/community that serves a broad spectrum of individuals

The successful candidate will join a department of nine dynamic full-time and 13 adjunct clinical faculty dedicated to preparing our students to be physical therapists and leaders who will have purposeful, meaningful, and positive impacts on health and society.
